Sector Projects Manager Permanent

On behalf of WasteMINZ we are seeking a highly skilled individual who will bring their relationship management, project management and professional skills to this role.

WasteMINZ is the largest representative body of the waste, resource recovery and contaminated land management sector in New Zealand. Formed in 1989, it is a membership-based organisation with over 1,500 members – from small operators through to councils and large companies.

WasteMINZ is the authoritative voice on waste and resource recovery in New Zealand and seek to achieve ongoing and positive development of our industry through strengthening relationships, facilitating collaboration, knowledge sharing and championing the implementation of best practice standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is primarily responsible for:

• The oversight and effective operation of WasteMINZ Contaminated Land Management and Disposal to Land sector groups, the facilitation and co-ordination of the sector group steering committee and working group meetings and providing administrative support for these meetings.
• The management and advancement of sector group projects, including the development of strategic and work plans, and the compilation of formal submissions on behalf of the sector group.
• Facilitation of the development of guidelines and best practice frameworks.
• Responsible for the management of the Contaminated Land Management (CLM) stream at the annual conference, and the stand along CLM workshop(s) and networking events.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to participate in working groups
• Maintain and support the sector group chairs and committee members as required, to ensure the key priorities of the sectors are reflected in the work and strategic plan. Help guide the steering committee to deliver project with the maximum impact.

This role requires high levels of communication and project management expertise to ensure that work plans are delivered in a collaborative manner, to schedule and within resource constraints.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sector Groups are run effectively according to the Terms of Reference & OperatingGuidelines – Sector & Technical Working Groups
• Steering committees represent the relevant stakeholders within their sectors
• Sector groups focus on issues that are a priority in their sectors
• Members, who are not on the steering committees, are given opportunities to contribute to meeting agendas and they are regularly updated on the sector groups’ progress
• Projects are completed within budget, on time and meet their specified objectives
• WasteMINZ events are run in an effective and efficient manner, meeting the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders
• Identify key news items for the monthly CLM Digest and provide thought leadership articles for the quarterly revolve magazine as requested by the editor

• Strong presentation skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Pleasant, friendly, and engaging manner
• Experience with local and central government
